Welcome to Kettlebells & Quads

I want to abolish the stigma that asthmatic, overweight or allergy ridden individuals are incapable of change. I was raised to believe that my allergies and asthma were disabilities and I needed to protect myself from physically stressful situations to prevent complications. I lived my whole life thinking that exercise was harmful to me due to the amount of effort I had to exert to complete a task.

In 2010 when I lost my mom (and best friend) to ALS, I was awakened to  the reality of what it was like to loose the ability to do the simplest of tasks. I was taught that my allergies and asthma were not a disability but a hurdle I needed to overcome so that I could live my life to the fullest.

My journey to reinvent myself began in 2010 with a gym rat mentality and a hunger for books on health, nutrition, the food industry and holistic eating. Since my journey has begun I have had triumphs and failures, set backs and gains, awakenings and blindingly dark moments.

I currently hold a degree in Pastry Arts and find an immense about of pleasure in cooking, baking and tweaking any recipe that comes my way. As much as I love my degree, I am unable to apply it in a scenario that satisfies me, other than cooking for my family and friends.

With the most adoration and thankfulness to my husband, I have been afforded the opportunity to put work on hiatus and go back to school. I recenly completed the NASM program and have acquired my certification as a Certified Personal Trainer. Through this certification, I am hoping to find my niche and find out how I can best apply my passions for fitness and nutrition.

My journey isn’t over. Through years of trial and error I finally feel like I am on the right path and that I am officially moving in the right direction. My blog will chronicle my life as I continue to be the best version of myself that I can be. I will share the good, the bad and the ugly of my adventure because if I make a difference in one person’s life, then I have reached my ultimate goal.
